Frequently Asked Questions

Can’t find your answer? Call or text (843) 729-8830 — I’m happy to talk through your issue.

How much does a diagnosis cost?

Nothing. Diagnostics are free on every device. I find the fault, send you a quote, and nothing gets repaired until you approve it.

My MacBook won't turn on. Can it be fixed?

Very often, yes. No-power faults are usually caused by a single failed component like a shorted capacitor, a power IC or a charging circuit. Logic board repair starts at $120.

Apple told me I need a new logic board. Should I get a second opinion?

Yes. Apple and most shops replace boards rather than repair them, which is why the quotes are high. A component-level repair fixes only the failed part, typically for much less, and keeps your data.

Can you recover data from a dead MacBook or iPhone?

In many cases. Modern Macs and iPhones store data on chips soldered to the board, so the board needs to work to get data off. Data recovery starts at $200, and you'll need your passcode.

I spilled something on my laptop. What should I do?

Turn it off, unplug it, and don't try to turn it back on. Skip the rice. Get it in for cleaning as soon as possible, because corrosion keeps spreading. See liquid damage repair.

What devices do you repair?

MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, iPhones, iPads, select Windows laptops, game consoles including PS5, PS4, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, and NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards. See GPU repair.

Where are you located?

Do you offer mail-in repair?

Yes, from anywhere in the US. Reach out first to open a ticket, then ship your device. Return shipping is fully insured for replacement value. See mail-in repair.

How long do repairs take?

It depends on the device, the fault and parts availability. You'll get a time estimate along with your quote.

Is there a warranty?

Every repair comes with a 6-month warranty covering the repaired area and workmanship. See the warranty page for details.

Are you affiliated with Apple?

No. FixedMac is an independent repair service and is not affiliated with Apple Inc.
